We've also requested print listings in Running Times and the 2005-2006 Living Here special section of the Tallahassee Democrat. Later we'll need to request listings in Running Journal and Florida Running and Florida Race Place, as well as some of the "clubbier" calendars on the web: Dothan Runners Club, Atlanta Track Club, Robins Pacers, Pensacola Runners Association, Northwest Florida Track Club, Draggin' Tail Runners, and anything else that springs to mind. We also can't forget to apply for Gulf Winds Track Club Grand Prix status, nor to bid for the RRCA state championship.

RunningInTheUSA.com has linked to the 2005 results. Most easily seen here:

2005 results are also at:

Here are all the "Community Calendar" listings rated by this year's Palace Saloon 5K:

3/29/2005 -- http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/sports/11254304.htm

4/12/2005 -- http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/sports/11371671.htm

Listings seem to be accepted up to six weeks before the date of the event, so in 2006 we should submit the event in early March.

Well, it's all over.

We fell well short of 500 finishers, but 318 is more than the race has seen in quite a few years, and the most in the 21st century. Other than the numbers, there were a lot of positives, and things went a bit more smoothly this year than last.

Promotion doesn't end after the race, though. I was a bit tardy this year, but I did get results posted in these places:

active.com -- http://active.com/results/viewresults.cfm?e_id=1131278

coolrunning.com -- http://www.coolrunning.com/results/05/fl/Apr16_31stAn_set1.shtml

gulfwinds.org -- http://gulfwinds.org/raceresults/palace_saloon_05.htm

flrunners.com -- http://www.milesplit.com/meet/10995

There are a couple more already sent out, but the listings haven't shown up yet.

And it's time to start get the date of next year's race into circulation. So far, the only listing for next year is at active.com:

http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1151770

I'll get on it.

We're on the Tallahassee Democrat Community Calendar and Scoreboard. Twice so far now, with two and a half weeks to go. I'm not sure if this was in the print edition, but it was certainly online:

http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/sports/11254304.htm

Look for us also on FLRunners.com:

http://www.milesplit.com/meet/10542

This one requires a follow-up, because I'll need to post the results there after the race.

Okay, back on the job. Reid has the flyer out now. Today I added online registration to our listing at active.com, and I've asked Martha Haynes to link to that via the Gulf Winds Track Club race calendar. We'll see how that goes.

I believe in promoting the race by promoting the team division.  I intend to encourage the formation of a Leon Cross-Country Alumni team.  Andrew Wills, Felton Wright, Andrew Maurey, Brant Foster, and David Proctor are possible members of the core of such a team.  If they can be sold on the idea, then they can go out and recruit the remaining team members.  Hopefully, that would then encourage the entry of alumni teams from other local schools.

500 finishers in '05!

Another national calendar lists the Palace Saloon Run. Check out RunningUSA for this listing.

The Pensacola Runners Association now has the Palace Saloon listed on their race calendar, "confirmed for 2005" even:
http://www.pensacolarunners.com/calendarapril2003.html#16

I should mention that RunningInTheUSA.com also has a link to the 2004 results:

Part of promoting the 2005 and subsequent Palace Saloon races is making sure that results are posted for past races. Here are sites where you can see the results of the 2004 Palace Saloon 5K:
